• The top quality fish which goes into Lucky Pet products is caught by means of purse seining by trawlers operating close to the shoreline to ensure optimal freshness and minimal damage during the journey back to the shores.
  • The fish are kept in refrigerated holds in cold sea water, or on ice as they are transported back to the factory for processing.
  • Cannery personnel manage automated processes of cleaning, heading, tailing and gutting the fish.
  • The prepared fish is conveyed to a mincing machine where a vitamin and mineral premix is added to ensure the product is nutritionally balanced and complete for your cats needs. Maize meal is also added to ensure good consistency of the product and sunflower oil to promote a thick, glossy coat.
  • The minced fish, is filled into cans and pre-cooked prior to seaming the can ends on.
  • The cans are then sterilized in a retort to guarantee product safety.
  • Prior to the cans being released, all product undergoes microbiological testing to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Products only qualify for the Lucky Pet label once they have met and passed the food safety standards.
  • Once labeled, Lucky Pet is distributed through our sales agents to the trade for purchase by our valued consumers.
  • All Oceana Brands production facilities in both South Africa and Namibia are HACCP compliant.
